Coffee Story
"Chelazos" refers to the residents of Chalatenango, a northern district of El Salvador bordering Honduras, who are distinctively known for their lighter-colored skin and light eyes (often called Chelitos).
Los Chelazos is a curated community blend sourced from smallholders in La Palma. Both cantons sit within the Montecristo Trifinio, a tri-border protected biosphere reserve shared between El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras known for its rich biodiversity.
Caravela began building relationships with local growers in 2012, establishing a buying station and cupping lab in La Palma in December 2015. Today, this community lot represents a decade of long-standing partnerships with producers who consistently deliver high-quality coffees harvest after harvest.
