CREONISIO CORREA DA SILVA | STORY
Creonisio's journey with coffee began when his family’s farm was passed down from generation to generation. Since childhood, he learned the secrets of agriculture from his parents and continued this legacy with great care and dedication. His property is located in the Córrego do Sossego community, near the town of Simonésia, in the state of Minas Gerais. As the name of the community suggests, Creonisio leads a peaceful life with his family and his brother, José Claudio, amidst a landscape of rare natural beauty and abundant water sources.
In 2021, while still producing and selling commodity coffee, Creonisio experienced a significant turning point in his journey. He had a perfectly ripened and homogeneous harvest, resulting in a cup quality superior to what he usually produced. This sparked his curiosity about high-quality coffee, and from that moment on, he began seeking more knowledge about specialty coffee. It was then that he realized he was already producing specialty coffee, and that, by learning new techniques and methods, he could further improve his work.
Determined to improve, Creonisio built his first suspended terraces and produced his first bags of coffee recognized as specialty coffee. That same year, he received a local prize in the coffee quality contest of the town of Simonésia and met FAF's Lado a Lado (Side by Side) project, immediately establishing a partnership.
Today, Creonisio understands that his family’s history, the dedication in cultivating the coffee, and everything that surrounds him are part of something special, deserving all care and respect. With each harvest, he continues to refine his coffee and strengthen the connection with the land and traditions that make his work unique.
