Chalatenango is a region of El Salvador known for its artists, artisans and breathtaking landscapes. The town of La Palma is famous for its colorful murals and handmade wares. This is a place where color and creativity are part of the fabric of everyday life.
El Mural is a blend of coffees from two main areas of Chalatenango: Citalá and La Palma, both of which are located in the Montecristo Trifinio, a national park shared between El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Designated as a biosphere reserve in 2011, it is an area of incredibly rich bio-diversity.
Our importing partner, Caravela, started developing relationships with producers in this area in 2012, and opened a buying station and cupping lab in La Palma in December 2015 for more opportunities to collaborate with the producers. This special reserve Pacamara lot is the fruit of these efforts.
You may notice that these Pacamara beans are BIG! That is one hallmark of Pacamara. Another is its exceptional quality. The Pacamara variety wins the Cup of Excellence competitions more than any other coffee from this region. Look for delicious flavors of toffee, vanilla, and orange creamsicle in the cup.
